MSU fans scored a big victory today when the University decided to scrap plans for a new logo designed by Nike. MSU alums had put together a pretty amazing show of force on Facebook opposing the logo and using the power of new media the numbers of alums had started to approach the capacity of Spartan Stadium.
Lansingonlinenews had blogged about the effort and suggested the University do exactly what they did today. In reality nothing bad happens and the University gains lots of Sparty points by listening to the crowd. Now it’s time to turn this huge contingent of alums into a positive force for the University. If I was MSU I’d be placing some Facebook ads for Monday morning and doing some recruitment for the Alumni Association. The fans who were opposed to the logo change are ardent supporters and sometimes the oddest things mobilize them. Now’s the time to take advantage of that group’s passion. “Go Right Through for MSU” and kudos to the decision makers at MSU.
