After last season, I was fearful that the series was on the decline and would overstay its welcome. Luckily, this season has improved over last season, and tonight’s episode was one of the reasons why.
Right away, the cold open was hilarious. Michael accidently cut off all the power in the office, and so when they came back up, everybody was locked out of their systems.
Surprisingly, nobody knew what the password was, even though many of them had been there for years. So, they put their heads together and thought about what it could be.
They came to the conclusion that it made Michael laugh, but it would offend Pam. It ended up being “big boobz.†It was very funny hearing the suggestions for what it could have been. The best one was how Dwight wanted to try every number combination in existence, which would have taken forever to accomplish.
The main plot involved Ryan and Michael’s website, WUPHF.com, and how they needed more investors. They managed to get some of the people in the office, but they only had nine days before the website goes under.
They got an offer to sell to Washington University, but Michael and Ryan did not want to sell it. However, everyone else did, and they were worried that they would lose all their money.
In the end, Pam told Michael how Ryan really felt about him, he still decided not to sell, but Ryan did. This story had some funny moments to it, but it wasn’t great.
The other storylines were funny, thankfully. Dwight set up a maze made of hay for children to enjoy. He had games for them to play, which involved the winner being the king, but ultimately, he decided to crown himself as the king.
The ongoing contract plotline continued this week, but it also ended. Angela got fed up with Dwight not showing up to their “meetings†and she meet a guy that she likes. So, she terminated the contract, and ended that silly story.
The best part about this episode was Jim. It turns out that the company has a commission cap, and as hard working as Jim is, he already reached it without knowing.
Once he found out, he realized there was nothing for him to do at work. There was no point in making sales, so he began goofing off (YAY!!!). We only got a taste of what I hope will be a very funny ongoing story.
The best thing he did was at the end, where he played a prank on Gabe that worked like a charm. I hope he begins doing more pranks again.
This episode had many funny moments. From Stanley’s “lighthouse spaceship” dream to Michael thinking that he had to pick up trash and separate it, there was a lot to like. Even though the main story was not great, the rest of the storylines were.
