I hear the sound of creaking bones
in the otherwise quiet of the newly fallen snow
Old trees, bent over in child’s pose, remain in frozen posture
while ice shards drop-
their tinkling landings like a fairy symphony
in the now apocalyptic landscape that surrounds us
Oh you, who have laid your icy mantle on the world,
take up your frozen covering and give us respite
allow these ancient giants their rest
that they may continue to provide shelter
and shade for us mere mortals
in the unknown days ahead.

I am a registered nurse case manager by day, and by night I love writing, reading, creating art and connecting with family and friends. With three grown children who are my loves, and three grand children who are my wee loves, life is pretty sweet. I came to nursing later in life and maybe that's why I'm more interested in end-of-life issues. All things related to death and dying and the resiliency of the human spirit are fascinating and beautiful to me. I can be reached at .
