Executive Director Jon Hoadley announced the launch of “We Are Michigan” at a sparsely attended press conference at the Capitol on Friday, following passage of Right To Work in Michigan on Tuesday.
Speakers at the presser included Hoadley; Zack Pohl of Progress Michigan; union member Shalaya Bryant of SEIU; Andrew Nickelhoff, legal counsel for WAM; and Rev. Greg Martin of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lansing.
During the Q&A, Rick Pluta of Michigan Radio repeatedly pushed for specifics about plans and major sources of initial funding. Hoadley repeatedly sidestepped both issues, saying, “The coalition is looking at all the options” and “At this point, we’re asking folks to help us get off the ground.”
Hoadley is the former the head of the successful One Kalamazoo campaign.
