The Middle is one of those shows that flies under the radar, but it continues to be a consistently funny show week in and week out. This week was all about Halloween as there were many things going on.
Mike and Frankie went to a party, Sue went to the church hay ride, Brick went trick or treating, and Axl tried to go to a haunted house. First of all, let’s talk about Mike and Frankie.
Frankie wanted to go to a Halloween party because they never do anything on Halloween, but Mike doesn’t like adults dressed up. They had a bad time but managed to make up before the episode ended.
I really like this couple. They are one of the best comedy couples on TV, but, for some reason, writers think it is hilarious to have couples fight all the time on a comedy. However, I rarely think that is funny (only on Everybody Loves Raymond). With The Middle, the writers decided to make the couple act nice to each other.
Sue went on a hayride at the community church. She originally wanted to go to a dance, but she didn’t have a date, so she reluctantly attended the church event.
Sue is always being rejected in just about everything she tries to do, but she is always confident and rarely sad. I guess that is a good thing, and it does make for some funny moments.
Axl, on the other hand, is your typical teenager. He is lazy, argumentative and nothing much else needs to be said about him. He is my least favorite character, but he does have his moments.
This week, he took his friends and dates to a haunted house, but they got lost and started to fear that someone would kill them.
Now on to the final character, but also the best character, Brick. This young kid steals every scene he is in. This week, he dressed up as a famous Scottish general from World War I and almost everyone wrongfully identified his costume.
I think the best thing about Brick is the fact that he is very unpredictable. Who wants to be a Scottish General for Halloween? This kid is great and he deserves at least a nomination for best supporting actor in a comedy series.
This week’s episode was another consistently funny episode, with some good storylines. While this show is not the most talked about show or the most watched, it always manages to make me laugh, and it also exhibits a lot of reality.
I certainly recommend this show to people who have not seen it before. Great cast. Always funny.

This show is quickly moving up my list of can’t miss comedies. Ranks right up there with Modern Family and Office. The way Community is going, though, don’t know if anybody will catch up with that. Much as I like it though, I will say that I don’t know if Brick is ready to hit the award circuit just yet. Maybe soon…(soon-whispered).
Holding my head down and whispering ” I Agree ” love the Brick man : ) !!!
