Supernatural just keeps getting better and better. It’s hard to believe that a show that dealt with the apocalypse could continue at that level of quality, but Supernatural has managed to do so. This week’s episode was the best one so far this season.
Bobby has not been in the show much recently, but tonight’s episode, directed by Jensen Ackles, changed that. It was all about him, as he was trying to figure out a way to get his soul back.
At the end of last season, Bobby had sold his soul to a demon to get the location of Lucifer. He was told that once the apocalypse had ended, he would get it back. However, at the beginning of this episode, that demon, Crowley, told him he would not give it back.
So, for the rest of the episode, Bobby tries to figure out a way to get it back. I thought Jim Beaver did an excellent job once again, and almost made me forget about the brothers. But, of course they were in the episode as well.
In the first half of the episode, the brothers were only in a few scenes, as they were hunting some monster and gave some comic relief. Bobby helped them to figure out what it was and how to kill it.
However, after they took care of it, Dean calls Bobby to complain about Sam, and this resulted in the best scene of the night. Bobby put Dean on hold for a minute to deal with his problem, but then when he started talking to Dean again, Dean called him selfish.
Bobby then gave both the brothers a lecture about how they are complete whiners (which they somewhat have been), how he always helps them (which is true), and how he has this major problem he is dealing with and they should help him for a change.
I thought Dean was very rude in that scene, and I am glad that Bobby told both of them off. They did help, and provided more comic relief.
It was great to see Bobby again. The last few years, he has not been on the show as much as he was when the show started, but he was in just about every scene tonight.
I thought it was great that they showed just how much Bobby does for the brothers and for fellow hunters. He stayed up all night researching what type of monster the brothers were fighting, he helped a hunter by getting rid of a demon, and his phones are always ringing.
Not many shows on TV would devote a complete episode to someone who is not a main character. People might argue that Bobby is a main character, but he just has not been on the show as much recently.
However, tonight he shined, and I really couldn’t think of anyone else on this show I would watch more besides the brothers. I also have to tip my cap to Jensen Ackles who made his directorial debut on tonight’s episode. I hope that he does more as the series progresses.
I think that now would be the time to stop questioning the decision to bring Supernatural back. It continues to be a top-notch show.

Yes, it was the best one so far this year…Looking forward to the halloween episode(s).
I am catching up I promise. I was watching it while I was eating dinner, and I remembered why I didn’t watch it as much last season. It’s a little gross for me. Lol (I was watching the one where the locusts ate through the police officer’s head). But even though it is serious, and sometimes a bit on the gross side, there is definately an element of humor to it that I very much enjoy. SO I will catch up, but I need to buy the first few seasons on D.V.D. I think technically I am at the beginning of Season 2.
