This last episode really reminded me of the first two seasons and it made for a really great hunt.
Yes, there was the familiar angst among the brothers, and they are likely to have more in the near future, but this hunt was fun and a little creepy too.
After Dean ran into Sam, they decided to work on a case together. It involved psychics who were being killed and as it wasn’t hard to figure out, it was a ghost doing it.
What I liked about it was that the ghost was creepy and the brothers had to get rid of her by burning the bones, which we have not seen a lot of in years.
Unfortunately, there isn’t much to say about the episode itself, and that is the best part. We have had standalone episodes every year, but this was one that was so far from the main story and so fun and great that it brought back memories of simpler and funnier times.
It was great seeing Dean crack jokes here and there. It was great seeing the brothers mostly work on a case with no problems. It was also great to see no Bobby.
I am sorry to say this, but the show has never been about Bobby and he really wasn’t on it much in the first few seasons. Not seeing him in this episode reminded me that this show does revolve around the two brothers and nobody else.
While the tension between Sam and Dean was far and few between, we did see some good stuff between them. My favorite part was when Dean told Sam to just get over it.
I was glad to see Dean take some action and try to get Sam to move on. While I do see the reasons why he should not have killed Amy, in the end, she is a monster who will kill again.
Any other random monster would have been taken care of, so I don’t think she should have had any special treatment.
This was an old fashioned hunt that was fun and awesome, just like they used to be. While it was the finales and big twists that made this show a cult hit, it was these standalone hunts that were in the beginning and made for some fun and scary television.
The show has hardly had episodes like this in the past few years, but I hope that they come back because they are the reason why the early seasons were good. They are just fun to watch.
