Warning:This review contains spoilers.
This episode was not what I was hoping for. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but it isn’t a great thing either. Tonight’s episode was a lot about vampires and a little about parodying them.
When the cast and crew were interviewed about this episode, they made it seem like this episode was going to be about making fun of Twilight and all the recent dramatic vampire movies and shows.
However, the only comedic parts were in the first 10 minutes. They were hilarious and I was hoping for much of the episode to be like that, but unfortunately, it was not.
After those first ten minutes, Dean turned into a vampire. After that, it was all about how he was going to be cured. He went into the vampire’s safe house and tried to get blood from the vampire who turned him. However, we learned that the vampires get their orders from someone up above, and they have some really freaky dream sequences.
It is interesting that this episode was named after the fourth movie in the Die Hard series, since Dean was acting like John McClane when he took out the entire building filled with vampires. It was pretty gruesome and proved that Dean can still be very tough.
In this episode, Sam lost everyone’s trust. When the vampire at the beginning was attacking Dean, Sam showed up. But instead of helping Dean, he stood there and happily watched, as the vampire forced his blood down Dean’s throat.
At the end of the episode, Dean was cured and had visions of the entire few days of events, which ended with him seeing what Sam did (or didn’t do). Now there will be even more tension and almost certainly a fight between the brothers.
So, this was a good episode, but a tiny step backward from last week’s great episode. It did have some great moments, such as Dean’s one-liners about Twilight.
