CORNER OF MALCOLM X, M.L.K., AND COMPLACENCY
Drew Ramsey
Recently uploaded on facebook was a photo celebrating the street sign Malcolm X and M.L.K.
There were no statuses about the poor quality of schools on these streets. No posts about the lack of jobs. No comments on the dilapidated homes, liquor stores, or crime that infests these areas.
Just complacency. The same kind of complacency we were warned about in the early 1990’s when one of Malcolm X’s contemporaries spoke at the Michigan State University Auditorium.
Awaken from your slumber dear friends, lest we continue to accept the status quo and forget that the power of the people is the strongest power, save God, to force change…”by any means necessary.”
