Poem/a/day: Hope

Hope

Jennifer Pahl Otto
An alpine edge where visions grow
Casting fortunes in high places,
From heady spaceward reach of sky
To rocky bones beneath my feet
That fall away, a rush of pine,
Earth bound joy so sharply sweet
I scarcely even felt the blow.
I should have prayed for lesser graces.

The lilt of this piece makes me feel like it’s waltzing me to it’s destination, so light on it’s feet. I really enjoyed reading it, It’s the kind of poem that begs to be read out loud for the cadence of it’s song. Each time I read it I hear something new. Well done.

  2. Thanks for the perceptive comments. I love poetry out loud.
