City Night
In the city, the night is gray.
The darkest corners
Lit by distant streetlights.
Stars fade in the glare
Of headlamps and high-rises,
Their winks obscured by bright air.
An homage to man’s oldest fear,
City light pushes at night
And dark is only shades of gray.
