Preuss Pets is the first entrant in Lansing Online News’ new series called “Only in Lansing.” The series is designed to highlight entities and individuals in the Lansing area who are unique and one-of-a-kind. These are the folks who contribute to our culture and make our community special.
In this video, Rick Preuss and his daughter Kirbay discuss the impact that the BP oil spill is having on the marine life in the Gulf of Mexico - and on us as we watch the catastrophe unfold. They also discuss how the store has begun raising its own coral, for their own displays and for sale to the public. This sustainable practice allows people to enjoy saltwater reef tanks featuring these amazing animals. (The swaying is hypnotic.)
As one viewer wrote:
I always appreciated that the family lets the community come to their store like a zoo - and all of the staff there have always been extremely kind in my experience. Seeing how invested they are in using their store to inspire and inform is outstanding.
The “Only in Lansing” series is the brainchild of co-publisher Bill Castanier. He is eager to receive your nominations for individuals and entities to include in the series. Please email Bill with your nomination.
