Drew and I have been alert like cats throughout the night, quick to pounce when yet another tree limb cracks and plunges to the forest floor. There is a cruel beauty to ice, stunning to look at but the deer are already forlorn, looking in vain for something to eat. Some just stood baffled in the driveway.
Big questions now are do we hold power and what about the driveway. Without sand or salt, we cannot get out. And unless it gets better, anyone who spends Christmas here may have to stay until Easter.
I hope all of you are toasty and safe. Time to hunker down until we slowly come back to normal.
