If you are not familiar with Modern Family at this point, you must be living under a rock. The great newcomer to last season’s line-up was a critical and commercial success, bringing the show many awards, one of which was best comedy.
The second episode of season two dealt with public displays of affection, and it kept the laughs coming - no sophomore slump.
Through much of the episode, Cameron was having a problem with the fact that Mitchell would not kiss him in front of other people. This storyline built until it became a big issue at the family dinner table, where everyone blamed Jay for Mitchell’s problem. It led to an awkward and somewhat funny kiss between the father and son.
The theme of kissing continued when Claire read Alex’s flirty texts with a boy. This results in Alex telling telling the boy that she wants to kiss him, but it happens in front of his entire soccer team.
The last main storyline was that Phil was trying to print something for Jay. After Gloria mentioned to Manny that the dead were with them, Luke and he thought they heard his grandmother in the house, and then they told her to show herself. Phil triggered the printer from the attic, and it printed out a picture of the grandmother as if on cue.
There was also a great subplot in which Jay continued to make fun of Gloria’s Colombian traditions. She found revenge by making up traditions that involved beating up frozen chickens while screaming and wearing shoes around your neck.
This second season shows no signs of slowing down, and it certainly has overtaken The Office in having the best ensemble cast, as well as being the funniest show on television.

I completely agree with you! Everytime I watch this show it actually has me laughing out loud. The part of the episode where Jay was screaming and hitting the chicken was classic!
The Grandma stuff was pretty funny. Good show!
I fell over laughing when Grandmas pix printed just as the boys ask her to show herself from the dead. I was hoping Glee would win the Emmy but you’re right…Modern Family is the funniest show on tv! Thx
I love love love this show and this review is soooo spot on. I couldnt stop laughing at this, and i look forward to seeing where they go with this show.
