On the 9th anniversary of the U.S. war and occupation in Iraq on Monday, March 19, 2012, the Greater Lansing peace community will rally for Peace — and will remember and reflect on years of killing and destruction in Iraq and demand peace and diplomacy in dealing with Iran.
The Peace Education Center of Greater Lansing is organizing the “Peace Now!” rally for Monday, March 19, 2012, from 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. The rally will be held near the public benches along Cedar Street at the I-496 corridor in Lansing, Michigan. The specific theme of the rally will be “Ending War in Iraq, Preventing War with Iran.”
All supporters of peace are invited to participate. Street parking is available nearby on E. Hazel Street. Signs will be available for use.
After the peace rally, the Peace Education Center plans to march (and drive) in solidarity to the “Evening of Remembrance” at the Capitol Building at 6:45 p.m. and the planned program at Central United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. organized by the Greater Lansing Network Against War and Injustice (GLNAWI).
