Can you believe it? This program is free. Everybody Reads Bookstore in Lansing Michigan is hosting HerStories, a celebration of Women’s History Month and writing, for four Saturdays in March. The programs will focus on stories by and about women and include storytelling, writing workshops and author events. There will also be several writing workshops with area writers and a final Benefit Show and Open Mike for the Women’s Center of Greater Lansing. For more details on the programs and to pre-register for the writing workshops click here. The magazine, Greater Lansing Woman, will publish one submission from the workshop participants.
Authors include Andrea King Collier (“Still with Me: A Daughter’s Journey of Love and Loss”), Marilyn Mayer Culpepper (“Never Will We Forget: Oral Histories of World War II”) and Virginia Law Burns (“Bold Women in Michigan”).
Primary organizer of the event Melissa Dey Hasbrook said the event is “a great opportunity to join words and people”.
“This event will be a first-step into writing women back into history,” she said.
