Michael Federspiel a noted Hemingway historian and author will be at the Delta Township Library tonight (Tuesday, July 20) at 6:30 p.m. to discuss his new book “Picturing Hemingway’s Michigan”.
The book is a superlative look at the 22 summers Hemngway spent in Michigan and it contains 250 images which document those formative years for the noted author.
Many of the photographs have not been seen before and Federspiel does a great job illustrating from photos how in later years Hemingway would pull details to use in his books such as “The Nick Adams Stories”, and “True at First Light”.
Federspiel said his most difficult chore was deciding what to leave out along with creating a book for those who no little about Hemingway. He did that and in knockout fashion. I interviewed Federspiel for Mittenlit.com and he told me he is in the process of developing a literary trail based on Hemingway’s time in Michigan.
