More than 200 dogs brought their owners to the first-ever Woofer Walk, sponsored by the Ingham County Animal Control Shelter. The walk began and ended at the Walmart parking lot in Okemos, along with a companion 36-hour adoption event at Petsmart.
The Woofer Walk helps to raise money for medical care of the more than 5,000 animals that the shelter handles each year. Under the leadership of shelter director Jamie McAloon Lampman, the facility has attracted a bevy of new volunteers who worked for weeks to organize the stellar event. In addition to the walk, there were contests, including the contest competition you see in the video above.
