When you see people looking like the characters above roaming around Lansing this weekend, do not be alarmed. The theme for this year’s year’s anime convention Shuto Con at the Lansing Center is Dragon Ball, and so many people are eager to attend that their website is already listing a second overflow hotel. (Check the website for three-day and one-day pass prices for different age groups.)
Friday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., fans of this form of Japanese animation can choose from visiting dealers, watching videos, playing games and attending one of the three panels in three different ballrooms featuring 40 speakers. Special events include the Masquerade Ball and Dinner Buffet on Friday night (already sold out) and the Cosplay (for costume) Competition Saturday at 6 p.m.. Just to give you a taste, the image below is one of the judges.
