Local coffeeshops are starting to buzz about why Mayor Virg Bernero has pulled out of the most important debate of the campaign against his opponent City Council-member Carol Wood.
The debate and ground rules at WLNS TV 6 had been agreed to for the debate to take place early Tuesday evening, according to Wood. This debate has extra importance because of the reach of this local television channel.
Wood said she had been notified that Bernero decided against the debate and that it would be canceled.
This happens as local political observers talk about unofficial polls which show that Wood is within the statistical margin of error and within striking distance of defeating the incumbent mayor.
