I’m sticking around town this weekend and am planning to catch a few movies at the theater. Â I am having to change my plans slightly because tonight I bumped into Charlie and Steve at the NorthStar Center in Lansing. Â They are kicking off the Center’s film noir series on Friday, September 3, 2010 at 9:30 p.m. The NorthStar Center is located at 106 Lathrup Street near the corner of Lathrup and E. Michigan Avenue. Â The movie this Friday is the 1955 classic, “Kiss Me Deadly.” See the movie trailer below.
Charlie describes the movie as “Director Robert Aldrich’s and writer A.I. Bezzerides’s noir film of apocalyptic fascism and cold war hysteria.” Filmsite.org agrees, the movie is “the definitive, apocalyptic, nihilistic, science-fiction film noir of all time - at the close of the classic noir period.” Â Now this movie sounds much more intriguing than the “Revenge of Kitty Galore.” Â The kitty’s gotta wait.
It’s worthwhile to note the other, upcoming movies in the NorthStar Center’s Friday film series in September:
September 10 - “The Following” (1999) directed by Christopher Nolan
September 17 - “Out of the Past” (1947) directed by Jacques Tourneur
September 24 - “Lost Highway” (1997) directed by David Lynch
See you at the movies!
