THE LON DIGI-DOLLARS OPTION FOR LOCAL ADVERTISERS

Lansing Online News (LON) will be experimenting with a new way to support local businesses, by allowing advertisers to “pay” for their ads by “banking” an equivalent dollar amount with us as goods and services. LON contributors will earn “Digi-Dollars” for their work, but rather than issue any paper scrip, we are creating an online accounting system that will operate like a debit card. Advertisers will receive email notice when a contributor plans to cash in a specified amount of Digi-Dollars at your establishment. We will also provide a monthly accounting until or unless your account drops to zero.

For example, if you want to run a banner ad on our Front Page for a week at a negotiated price of $100, we will certify that you will redeem $100 LON Digi-Dollars of your goods and services in specific increments as LON staffers redeem their Digi-Dollars from you. Depending on the nature of your business, you will be given adequate email notice, as well as the name and contact information for the person who will be seeking the redemption.

National advertisers will continue to pay for their advertising in hard currency.
