Mid MI/Lansing Chapter of MOMS DEMAND GUN SENSE IN AMERICA will host a rally this Saturday, April 13, from 11 a.m. to noon on the Capitol steps in Lansing. The event is part of al all Michigan rally for GUN SENSE in Michigan and across America.
The group mobilized quickly after tThe TV news magazine show 60 MINUTES recently showcased parents and family members of the 26 killed on 12/14 at the Sandy Hook Elementary school. Four months later, they say they are not asking for the moon and stars, JUST COMMON SENSE GUN LAWS. As one father said, “It will happen again.”
This event is sponsored by MOMS DEMAND ACTION FOR GUN SENSE IN AMERICA, a non-partisan grassroots organization. It was started by a Mom from Indianapolis, IN, and now has chapters in 38 states with more than 100,000 members in four months.
The group is asking for:
- Universal background checks
- Limiting ammunition magazines to hold no more than 10 rounds
- Banning assault type weapons
- Resisting gun lobbyists (NRA) efforts to weaken gun laws at the state level
