The Greater Lansing peace community will hold its 430th straight peace vigil in front of the Capitol Building at noon tomorrow, which happens to be Christmas Day. What a great day to stand together as a community to demand nothing less than world peace. All local area residents are invited:
Peace Vigil, Dec. 25, 2009, Noon - 1 p.m.
Capitol Building, Lansing, Michigan
This past Monday, the day of the Winter Solstice, the peace community gathered for a peace potluck organized by the Greater Lansing Network Against War and Injustice (GLNAWI). Approximately 50 people attended to share the warmth of the season, as well as a dish to pass. Also, the evening was a community action. Everyone signed letters to political dissidents and their governmental jailers around the globe as a coordinated effort with the local Amnesty International chapter. Additionally, everyone signed peace-oriented holiday cards for members of the Congressional delegation. A group photo, similar to the one shown above, will accompany the holiday card to the Congressional members.
To achieve peace, citizens must demand it of their governments and must act locally. The demand starts, again, at the peace vigil tomorrow at noon. Hope to see you there.
