Want to start your own multimedia online publication or blog? This one-day workshop will teach you how to create and customize a site using WordPress and other cool free (or affordable) tools. The goal is for you to walk out of the workshop with a website ready for you to start posting.

- Plug-ins & widgets (including the Akismet anti-spam plug-in)
- Headlines, tagging, pingbacks & SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
- Optimizing images using Picnik
- Google analytics
- Free tools – Scibd (documents), Cover It Live (text feed embed), Livestream & Ustream (webcasts)
Based on time and your feedback, we may cover:
- Promoting your site with free and paid social media

EQUIPMENT: To expand the capacity for hands-on work, those of you who have laptops are encouraged to bring them. There are desktops available in the room for those who do not have a laptop. Please also bring any still or video cameras you would like to use for your project.
