Due to the BCS title game, not much was on.
Tuesday
Last Man Standing (Take Your Daughter to Work)
I never watched Home Improvement, so this is the first I have seen of Tim Allen on TV. He plays a macho dad with three daughters. He works at a store called, Outdoor Man.
This week, the owner’s daughter was hired and tried to get them to become modern and try to target women. I don’t think this is a great show, but it isn’t terrible. Allen made me laugh at times and there are some good things about it.
While I wouldn’t call it a good show, there is a lot of shows that are far worse than this one.
Wednesday
Suburgatory (Out in the Burbs)
This new show is about a teenager, Tessa, and her single dad, George, moving from the city to the suburbs. The episode this week involved an undercover cop who uses Tessa to figure out who might be selling steroids.
This has been a decent addition to ABC, but this week’s episode was hilarious. Tessa thought that he was gay, because he kept focusing on the athletes, and a few of the scenes where they were having miscommunication were very funny.
Overall, this show is ridiculous and funny. I definitely recommend it.
Are You There, Chelsea? (Pilot)
In her return to television, Laura Prepon plays a bartender who decides to turn her life around after a DUI. I didn’t think it was funny. The cast is decent, and Prepon was great on That 70s Show, but it just wasn’t good.
Honestly, if a comedy can’t make you laugh, then you shouldn’t watch. There is some potential, but not enough to recommend.
Thursday
30 Rock (Dance Like Nobody is Watching)
In this solid premiere, Tracy is worried about Liz being happy and Jenna plays a rude judge on a children’s reality TV show. While 30 Rock has never been my favorite, and it has been showing some age, this was a good start to the season.
I haven’t laughed at Jenna this hard in a long time. Her Simon-like attitude, that was even more rude than Simon himself, towards kids had me laughing the whole time.
I am glad to see 30 Rock back and hopefully it can stay this funny.
Rob (Pilot)
In case anybody was missing Rob Schneider, he is back. He plays a guy who abruptly marries a Mexican woman and the pilot focuses on him meeting her family.
This was not that good, but Rob was funny at times. My biggest issue, however, was the cliché of him messing up everything when he was with her parents.
I never like that too much, and honestly, it is getting so stale at this point that I honestly hate watching those kind of scenes.Despite those stupid moments, it was an ok episode.
I see potential in this one and I would slightly recommend that you try it before dismissing it.
Friday
All I watched was Supernatural. You can see my review of Time after Time here:

Sunday
Napoleon Dynamite (Thundercone)
Remember that weird comedy that launched Jon Heder’s career? Well, there is now an animated show based off it. I must say, it is not good.
I did enjoy the movie, but this show is not funny. The same stupidity of Napoleon was here, but it isn’t even close to the film. Even if the movie is your favorite film of all time, I wouldn’t recommend this. I didn’t even chuckle.
Shameless (Summer Loving)
The crude Showtime dramedy is back for a second season, and is has been pretty good so far. The show focuses on a group of kids who basically take care of themselves.
The oldest is Fiona, who is like the mom, and then there are five brothers and sisters that she takes care of. There mother left years ago, and their dad, Frank, is a drunk who is never there to help with anything.
I feel like this season has just continued on from last season. It hasn’t improved or gotten worse. I enjoy it and the first two episodes this season are both good.

Very nice. Love these as they help me catch up.
You are spot on with this weeks reviews. As I watch almost everything on tape just finished most of these. I like this format and the grades. going to look at Supernatural review. Thx
Nice reviews and ratings there. I’ve been kind of intermittently watching Last Man Standing, and there’s some laughs there, but I wouldn’t call it one of my favorites. I never end up catching it while it’s on. I’ve just been watching it on dishonline(dot)com, which is a cool, free streaming site run by my employer, DISH. It’s become kind of my go-to spot whenever I miss a show I wanted to see, because usually, it’ll be there. I’ve actually watched just about every episode of Last Man Standing (that I’ve seen anyway) on that site. So I definitely recommend checking it out. Considering the fact that even non-DISH subscribers can access a lot of the programming, it’s worth it.
