GLNAWI (the Greater Lansing Network against War and Injustice), a coalition of area peace and religious groups, held an hour-long protest to mark the eighth anniversary of the war in Afghanistan. Many signs echoed their main message, ” Eight years is enough! No More Troops to Afghanistan.”

The group’s website urges people to “[j]oin with the GLNAWI and the Peace Education Center in our call for:

  • No additional troops sent to Afghanistan
  • A timeline for withdrawal of U.S./NATO forces
  • Talks with all parties to the conflict
  • Generous civilian-led development funds
