President Barack Obama’s America’s Jobs Plan would fund a National Infrastructure Bank that states could use to rebuild roads and bridges.
The map above shows the bridges within a 10-mile radius of Lansing area that are deemed STRUCTURALLY DEFICIENT by the U.S. Department of Transportation on an interactive map at Transportation for America. Structurally deficient is the same designation given to the I-35W bridge in Minneapolis, Minn., that collapsed 2007, so it would be great to see those bridges slated for improvements soon. (NOTE: The bridge on Willoughby Road appears to have been rebuilt recently but it is still listed in the database.)
Here’s a PDF of the full national report from Transportation for America.
Perhaps a call to Rep. Mike Rogers urging him to get on board with the Obama plan might be in order?
