The Riverwalk Theatre’s
Black Box presents a reading of “Alas, Poor Yorick”, a play in two acts by Gary Seger on Sunday, November 6 at 7 p.m. — FREE OF CHARGE.
This play explores the intrigue and relationships of the major characters 11 years before William Shakespeare’s classic “Hamlet.” King Hamlet’s jester Yorick is entrusted by the Queen to assist with young Hamlet’s education.
Mysteries and plots unfold that the audience gets to observe in “Alas, Poor Yorick” and later in “Hamlet.” This highly accessible, and sometimes humorous script contains smart, modern dialogue that is reminiscent in tone to the Bard. With its modern speech, this play will please people that love Shakespeare, as well as those that find Shakespeare’s language to be difficult.
An audience talk-back with the cast and director, Jeff Magnuson, will be led by local theater veteran, Ken Beachler. Mr. Beachler has been associated with the play Hamlet multiple times throughout his career, most recently when he directed Lee Blessing’s “Fortinbras” for the Riverwalk Theatre’s Black Box.
